Feeding a 4 Week Old Puppy?

I have a 4 week old Chihuahua puppy. They said he drinks milk from a bowl, but he just drinks a little bit. How I can get him to drink milk better?

Staying hydrated is critical for a pup so young. I am assuming since the milk is coming from a bowl the mom is not feeding him. Best to talk to the vet to see if you should be syringe feeding.

Heshe may also give you the ok to start small amounts of soft food in addition to the milk. Post back with updates! Prayers!

First off the dog can't drink reagular cows milk this is not good for him. You should have mother's milk and you can buy this at a pet store in powdered form or liquid form. You can also make this yourself. At that age the milk can't be cold and you'll need to heat it up like you do for a baby.

When the dog is around 5 to 6 weeks old you can start with some dry dog food and add some hot water to the food to make it softer for the puppy to eat. but change the milk you are giving to him and warm it up do not give him cold milk he is not use to cold milk and can get sick or will refuse to eat.

You need to get your puppy to the Vet for a checkup. The Vet can answer many questions for you. In a couple of weeks your puppy will need his 1st vaccinations. Get scheduled with your Vet for those. Especially parvo. Parvo is common, heartbreaking and deadly in many instances. Call your Vet right away.
