Put requests on Freecycle, Craigslist, offerup and the like.

  • You could ask word of mouth to your family, friends, co-workers, neighbors.
  • If you need fabric for charity, you can write to big organizations or any local organizations, companies that may want to help fund money for the fabric.

  • You could call sewing factories or stores and ask if they have any extra fabrics.
  • Sometimes local fabric stores go on sale for 80% off, or you could call asking if they have leftover fabric for discount.
  • Check free sites like next-door, craigslist, offer-up, also post listings and explain your situation.
  • You could also barter something?
  • Place signs around your community to ask for donations

Talk to your local churches and other religious organizations. Many will post it in the bulletin for you.

You can also (if you are collecting for a non-profit to make things for a charity) talk to some of the big box stores if you still have them that sell fabric--like Wal-Mart, Joanne or Michael's, and see if they can donate the remnants to you.

Post back with an update! Happy sewing!

I'd try to post in Nextdoor and Craigslist as a request first, then call up your local fabric/craft shops to find out if they have any excess/out of season bits
