If you use Facebook there are private clubs you can join where people sell, or give away items listed right in your area. Take a drive around town before trash pick up. Tons of people just through away good items to the curb. Check thrift stores as well. Check your local free paper which we like to call the "pennysaver".

Try facebook swap shops, freecycle and craigslist. However, be very careful of the items you get to ensure no bedbugs.

You can start online by advertising on Craig's list for a needed family that is looking for the following items. Check on Freecycle and create an account. You'll need to list some items you're looking for and see if anyone has any available.

You can also check to see if there is anything listed on there that you could use. Last but not least there are places on Facebook that you can go to find these types of items and ask for help.

It is possible that many people would like to have free furniture but you may have to give some kind of reason if you place an ad on Freecycle if you want someone to offer help.

  • You can check Freecycle and Free stuff on Craigslist as there are usually always ads where someone wants to give away items like this.
  • Be prepared to have a vehicle to pick up anything offered as most people will not deliver their free stuff.

  • I would be very careful with accepting any type of bedding as bedbugs can come from even the nicest homes.
  • If there is a good reason why you are needing free furniture, then you may be able to get help at some of your local churches as they do help even non-members if there is real need.
  • If you place an ad on Freecycle or Craigslist be sure to mention why you need free stuff and also the number of adults and children in the family.
  • Another good place to check and ask for stuff is a site called Nextdoor.
  • nextdoor.com/
