Freecycle is a great place to start to find used furniture or people giving away some of the furniture they don't need any longer. I would stay away from beds because they can have bed bugs in them.

My daugher sometime visits the second hand stores or even thrift shops and she has found some great deals there.

You can check free postings on Craigslist, Facebook Market for free, ask word of mouth family co-workers, family or friends/neighbors.

Sending up prayers that you find what you need at a price you can afford or for free.

Do you have a free store in your town? We have one of the first in the country in our city and I understand they are popping up all over the US.

These are stores where people donate items and people can "buy" what they need for free.

Some ask that you bring something to trade--so say you have a box of mugs, you can trade the box of mugs for a couch. Or a box of gently worn slacks for a mattress.

Some are without any obligation, but it is important to know the rules of each store.

Also many churches, mosques, and synagogues have "stores" or annual tag/rummage sales where you can shop (very low cost or free).

I suggest calling around to the largest religious organizations in your town and asking if they can point you in the right direction for one of these sales/stores.

The challenge is you are going to need to find a way to get what you need home as most of these places do not have delivery services and it is not easy to put a couch or bed on top of a car.

Hopefully you have friends who can help that have a pick up truck.

Post back with an update!
