House Trained Dog Pooping In the House?

dog wearing a graduation capMy Boxer just turned 1 year old and has been potty trained since he was 16 weeks! He only took 1 week to train and he has never had an accident until 3 weeks ago. Now he has pooped in the house almost every night! Nothing has changed, he is on the same food, same schedule, he just went to the vet a week ago and got a clean bill of health. He completed pet training this week and is really a great dog. I am really clueless.

Why do dogs poop in the home?

  1. You said the dog has been house trained for almost a year.
  2. He also just finished his training.
  3. Something has happened. He has gotten scared, an event in his life has changed, or a new person has entered or left the home.

  5. The dog is feeling insecure.
  6. I think it is because he is missing his training.
  7. Did you happen to take him there often?
  8. If anything in the routine or schedule of an animal changes this will cause them to have accidents in the home.
  9. You will need to re-train your dog again.
  10. I know this sounds almost impossible, but at times this does happen.
  11. You will need to take him for walks at certain times, feed him at certain times, and keep an eye on him.
  12. You will need to find out when he is pooping in your home.
  13. It might be necessary at night to keep him in a smaller, confined location so he doesn't have free run of your home.
  14. If an animal is confined to a smaller location normally they won't soil this area where they have to sleep.
