I have worked in 2 different hospital gift shops and almost all of our merchandise came from no brand name companies as these were generally bought by the thousands by one distributor and sold to many 'gift shops'.
It is generally known that most of the gifts purchased in these shops is just a 'one time' thing and not necessarily a true gift to be cherished so it doesn't usually matter if it is not a 'brand' name.
Many of these 'gifts' are left behind when the patient goes home.
Because of where it was purchased, I would tend to think it was a 'knockoff or bootleg' copy of the then popular Barney.
Now - I could be completely off with my thinking so I would suggest you join some of the sites that have members who can identify all sorts of plush toys.
Join the groups and ask for help. Be sure to state where it came from.
