You need to look for an identifying mark. It will be much easier to tell how old it is and what it is worth.

You don't see this style often in the US. Are you in Europe?

I think you may have something quite valuable. Possibly from the late 1800s. Possibly French.

My feeling is they may have been recovered with the leather in the 1940s, but I can't be positive...I just have not seen this style of chair with anything other than a fabric/tapestry type covering, but is only what I have seen...and like I said, we don't see much of this style where I am in PA..I am talking about what I have seen in magazines.

Do you have a reputable antique dealer in your town? I would take these to them and have them looked it.

They can look at things I can't see in the photos--like the construction, like the condition, and then they can give you the value for your town.

If they are valuable (which I am hoping they are--those lion finals are so interesting)...you may do better in an auction setting if you want to sell.

If you are not interested in selling, talk to the person about insurance value as you may need a rider for them if they are valuable.

Post back what you learn!!

These are fabulous and would look amazing refinished and recovered!!

The best way to get any info on something like this is to look for any markings on the chair. Check underneath, on the inside of legs, top right corner of underneath. Remember, the bottom could be dirty and as a result, it could be covering any markings. Make sure to wipe it down to make sure youre able to see any markings better.

The only other way you could search for these exact ones would be a reverse image search...and those are a little complicated and you cant guarantee to find an image like yours.

If you find any model numbers, serial numbers, etc. post them under my comment and Ill be happy to help you search for the chairs.

Good luck!
