Doll manufactures normally mark their dolls in one of three places.

  • On the back of the neck you can find a name, code, or numbers.
  • You can look on the back of the doll to see if they have marked the doll there.
  • The feet are the last place a doll manufacture would add his code or identification numbers.

If there are no marking on the doll it will be extremely difficult to find out much about the doll. Normally, if a doll isn't marked, it means that the doll was mass produced by some sort of toy company and sold during the holidays.

In such a case as this your only hope to find out if doll collectors are looking for this type of doll is to visit an auction home. They have doll appraisers on-site that could identify the doll for you and tell you if this is worth anything or not.

Identifying a doll.

Step 1
Look your doll over with a magnifying glass it is probably too small for you to see.

If there are no markings, the chances are the doll was mass-produced and has little value.
