If there is no other information besides the words, "Limited Edition", it is probably mass-produced and worth very little.

It is strange to only have Limited Edition and nothing else - did you take a very good look at the back of the head just at the hairline and slightly down the back for any other marks?

Maybe you could post a picture of the back marking just in case it might mean something to one of the members.

Pghgirl may recognize your doll but right off hand, I cannot place her - sorry.

She is quite lovely and I know when I sold these we sold a ton of the Victorian style girlies many years ago! Sadly they all blend together in my memory and she does not stand out for me.

If you want to find out her name, without markings (other than what you mentioned) it is not impossible, but it will be a challenge.

My suggestions to get her lineage are:

-- show her to everyone you know and put her on other doll websites as everyone has their own little niche and someone may recognize her immediately. This one is a little bit of a challenge because there have been millions of dolls made around the world...and finding the right person the first time out is a little like finding a needle in a haystack :(

--do some homework by going to Google images and type in her description, use terms like long pink Victorian dress or night dress/night gown and/or ornate hat, her height, hair color, etc.. to piece together info.

--You can do this same type of search in eBay to learn more by reading posts.

If you are trying to learn more about her to sell, you could always set up the first auction with just a description and if you want to get a set amount for her, set that as a reserve for that amount. You will lose that reserve amount if the doll doesn't sell, but it will give you an idea of the her value if anyone bids on her.

Sadly most of the dolls we see today being asked for on this site and at the fleas and thrifts are from the mass market campaign that Judy talked about. Doll companies created an artificial demand for these dolls and today, many people thought they could retire from the proceeds, only to find out that their lovely dolls are worth the same (or in many cases) much less than they cost new. It is very sad. Sad for me because I was one of the people selling the hype when I worked in retail :(

If you go the ebay (or ETSY route) shipping these are a super bear because they are fragile and usually need to go in an over sized box to give them enough protection and this really jacks up the price. Most buyers don't want to pay high shipping...so it becomes a catch 22 of lower the price so they will pay the high shipping costs.

The other thing I tell folks these days is in most cases, just either hold on to your dolls as there are such a glut today that people are purging and some day there may be a group of people who want to get their 1970s-1990s dolls back because they have happy memories...so they may be collectible in the future... OR to give the doll to a child who will love her. Dolls were meant to be loved, not shelved!!
