Lights Not Working After a Short?

A bedroom light fitting shorted and now none of the lights work. Some of the wires were burnt so I cut out the burnt wires and stripped back. The lights momentarily flickered, but the lights didn't come on and the flickering soon stopped. I then isolated the live feed and it is showing a current so I hooked up a bulb to test the live feed with the neutral, but the bulb didn't light up.

You may have a problem with the wires or the breaker box itself. I would call an electrician in.

This may be a dumb question, but did you try this with a new bulb? The bulb my have blown when testing. If it doesn't work with another bulb, it may be time to all in a pro.

It sounds like you are quite proficient in electricity, so if you are stumped, it may need that next level of fix it!! Post back with an update!
