Yes. Sounds like something that happened to me in college the week before I had a big job interview. I used a temporary brown dye for the day of and then waited a couple weeks to use a semi permanent dye.
Try Fanciful hair styling mousse with color. I get it at my local Sally Beauty Supply. It will wash out, so if you don't like it, you won't be stuck.
I highlight my hair, but if I leave the highlighter on even a couple of minutes too long, it will be too yellow, so I'll tone it down with the "Bashful Blonde" mousse. You can do this right away because it's not permanent.
