I accidentally pulled the black presser foot lever down and now it has fallen off followed by another little black part with a wire bit. It's a Janome 5030.

It looks broken to me. I think you will need to get it serviced.
Its' black plastic right? Apparently breakage is very common.
From my understanding from a friend who is a Janome queen, you can replace the lever if you can get the part from the company or online. Just be sure you are ordering the right part for your make and model. That info should be in your manual.
I could not find a video on the Janome specifically, but this one for Pfaff looks like what my friend said needs to be done.
If you are not handy, take it to your local sewing repair shop (if you are lucky enough to have one nearby) and they should be able to get the part for you in not in stock and replace it.
