Room Color Scheme to Coordinate with Curtains?

We've just put up Dunelm's Highland check ochre lined eyelet curtains which have grey, mustard, and beige checks. What rug, suite and coloured walls would you suggest? Our room is about 12ft x 10ft with gold framed mirror and picture frames. Thanks.

I would have beige walls and rug. Then, I would use the mustard and grey to accent, with throw pillows, vases, candy dish and nick nacks.

I would use a light gray color for the walls, and have a rug with mustard and grey in it.

I really think a powdered gray carpet would look nice in the room. You can do a light cream beige on the walls with a gray trim to add accent tot he walls and tie this all together.

I would want to see a dark red/maroon accent in there for a good contrast. Maybe one maroon wall and the others a pale yellow or grey, or walls grey and rug with maroon in it

you do not say, but I believe everyone is assuming this is your living room and suggestions all sound nice.

  • I believe either beige or gray would work if you use some more dominate colors for accent.

  • Gray is usually considered more "formal" (or neutral, formal, gloomy) so it would need some brighter colors for accessories such as the colors in your curtains.
  • Beige is a little happier color but still needs accent colors to keep it from being too boring.
  • Your curtains are "out of the ordinary" and I think you could really benefit if you took several photos of your room (especially where windows/doors and furniture are located) and carry one of your curtains to a large paint store for some suggestions.
  • Usually a larger paint store has someone on staff who works with interior designers and are very knowledgeable about what colors work to create a pleasing atmosphere.
  • There is no charge for their services and you do not have to buy your paint from their store.
  • Just Google paint stores and your zip and pick one in your area. I believe you will be pleased with their answers.
