Is there any way for these shoes to be cleaned? The original print (first photo) can no longer be restored, for sure, but can the stains and remaining print be removed so that it will only be the white parts left and I can paint a new design on the shoes?

I dont think you can make these shoes white. You can use fabric paint to restore the design, but it will be time consuming
Pinterest has a bunch of suggestions for shoe painting supplies.
If they are comfy, I say have fun with the flaws and turn it into an art piece!
Doing this exact kind of project is a bucket list item for me!

I can only suggest you check out Google as there are a lot of sites with instructions on painting. They do not seem to say very much about protecting the white soles so give that some thought - probably use some painters duct tape?
