Social Security Survivor Benefits Paid to Teens?

My grandson received benefits after his mother's passing. He is now 18 and graduated from high school at the end of May. Will he get final check in June?

Since he finished high school in May, I would say no.

Since he graduated in May - Probably not. SS check is for the present month so he would have to be in school in June to qualify.
In fact, if the benefit is paid in error, he will probably receive a letter from SS telling him to return the money to SS.

The benefits will then usually continue until the child graduates, or until two months after reaching age 19, whichever comes first.

Contact thomas.margenau@comcast.net. He's a SS expert who worked for them for 32 years. He writes a newspaper column and answers a lot of questions.

Or, contact your local SS office.
