Stack Mats for Indoor Exercise

Diamond Post Medal for All Time! 1,246 Posts

Floor mats stacked on top of each other for padding when exercising.Official exercise mats and jump mats can be pretty expensive. When I'm at home, I like to run in place, do jumping jacks, and jump rope while I watch TV. The impact from the floor can be damaging to the body, so I stack a bunch of my mats (many from the dollar shop, even) on some carpets to lessen the blow. It's also good to wear your sneakers, too.

Yes! When you are my age you will appreciate taking care of your body in your spunkier years and, because no matter your age; we still need that exercise.

Yes! And it's just easier to get it done while you're watching a show anyway. I got my parents an exercise bike and put it right in front of their TV. It's the only way for them to get any cardio in!

Just be careful as I have done this and caught my heel in a layer and went a** over tea cups! No, that is not a new exercise move...just a nasty fall :(

I am clutzy... which is why I always send reminders about safety first when setting up exercise spaces!

Ooo be careful! I am the most clumsy person I know and I just stay smack dab in the middle! :) I have a wall mirror nearby that I check my alignment in, too.

I like to do Leslie Sansone's "In-Home Walking" using DVDs or youtube, but my running shoes tended to get caught in our pile carpet. I damaged my knee to the point that I had to get knee replacement 3 years ago.

I've finally started walking again, after recovering from surgery, but now I put a big piece of cardboard down over the carpet.

Sadly, I finally had to stop the exercise in the house...besides the fall, it got/gets the dog all fussed up...my previous girl, Carmel Ann, used to try to rescue me when I would do exercises when I sat on the mats....I guess I was breathing heavy and she was all in my face...as if to say are you OK, are you OK...I know CPR as she stuck her snout right up to mine.

My current boy just barks and tries to keep me in one place...like he knows I am a danger to myself if I move wrong (and he wasn't even in the room when I fell)...I feel like he says just stand there and don't move. I am guarding you :)

When I am up to it, I do like to take a nice walk...without the dog...as it is just easier :)

Animals know it all! Amazing and sweet :) We have excessive heat warnings every day in LA so we don't get to walk unless it's past 9pm. I'm stuck inside, mostly!
