Salt for Stinky Shoes

Use regular kosher salt or any salt. Just sprinkle in shoes after heavy use, then wear with socks or without. It will kill the odor. Repeat if necessary. If all else fails you need to just toss the shoe.

I use baking soda. It is a natural deodorant. Many people keep a box in the fridge and freezer for that purpose. It works extremely well. It will deodorize the smelliest sneakers overnight.

Use an old pair of socks and add kitty litter. It will absorb the smell and moisture.

Why kosher salt?

It says "any salt" so I imagine that kosher is what the poster had on hand.
