Why is my machine only sewing backwards?

The reverse button may be stuck. Try to push it in firmly to release it. It may have to be oiled. You will have to take off the top cover to do this.
Try pushing and releasing button or maybe try tipping it on one corner/edge so maybe an angle will release it.
Do you have your manual? I did not see anything about 'stuck in reverse' in the maintenance area but here is a link if you need the manual.

You can always call one of your larger craft supply stores - Michael's or JoAnn's - and ask them if they have someone that might be able to help you as they usually have cards from sewing machine shops and maybe one of these could help with this problem.
You can also ask service people at Sears Service Center or any Toyota Sewing Machine sales/service. Google to find shops in your area - your zip code.
They will all try to send a service man but do not let them do this will be a very expensive visit.
If you have to have it serviced, be sure to take it to a recommended shop.
