Value for Lane Cedar Chest?

A cedar chest.I have my grandmother's Lane cedar chest Serial No. 341330 Style No. 482829. I understand this was made 3-13-1934. It is immaculate on the inside but outside could use some refinishing. Can you tell me the value? Thanks in advance!

You are correct about the date. In its condition, it is worth in the $150 range.

I have not found a cedar chest like yours to compare - either for sale or sold - so there is no real way to provide 'current value'.
You may look at cedar chests listed for sale and see all sorts of 'asking prices' but asking prices only represent what a seller would like to receive for their items and only a sold identical item can give a true 'current value' as it shows what someone was willing to pay for that item. This kinda goes along with the old adage; 'value is whatever someone is willing to pay'.

You may see your chest as needing 'some refinishing' but a potential buyer may see this as serious condition problems; the edges appear to have pieces of wood missing and if that is true that will be difficult to repair. Also, there appears to be quite a bit of stains etc. on the top and front.
I believe if you posted your chest with the same pictures (same condition) you may have difficulty selling it for $75-$100 even using 'pick up only'.

If you want to receive a decent price for this chest, I would suggest you take your pictures to your local Ace hardware store and ask them for advice on how to make it look better without completely refurbishing it.

If you follow their advice and the condition is improved then you could list your chest on sites like Facebook Marketplace, OfferUp, LetGo, or any site you're familiar with.

Start your price high - $500-$575 with offers considered and local pick only and see how it goes. If no offers after several weeks/moths then lower the price and wait again.

Here is a cedar chest about the same age as yours and also needs refurbishing that you might place a watch to see if it sells. The area may not be the same but it would be a beginning. Asking price: $280.
