Value of an NAO Figurine

I've inherited this figure. I am just wondering it's worth? It's a NAO girl? Thanks.

You can contact the company here and verify that it is their product. www.naoporcelain.com/.../;jsessionid=MDPICYQXMNQACCRDIRKCFFAKENADUIWB...

She is lovely.

My understanding is the NAO pieces are always marked on the bottom (this link has the history of the marks):

appletreedeals.com/.../

There are many brands that tried to "knock" off Lladro/NAO. This link gives some info about that history:

www.elportalporcelana.info/NAO.htm

If you do not have a mark, it will be hard to confirm exactly what you have.

Sadly, the market for all glass (real and fake) is at an all time low right now because there are just so many out there.

Once you ID your lovely, you can decide whether you want to sell now or hold on as down the road, the market may increase.

Post back with more info and I can see if I can offer any other guidance!

Without calling the company or going to their Facebook page to ask, it may take weeks to ID her.

Here's why...most people selling them are not the original owners, do not have the box, and do not have a clue how to name or describe them.

I sold them new for years and can't remember their "real names" so people who are just trying flip them know even less than I do.

You can try to put a description into eBays' search like NAO gown or NAO shy or NAO and her height and see if you can find an exact match.

There are thousands and thousands and thousands of varieties out there so it could be a while before you find the exact gal.

If she were mine and she was under 12 inches tall, I would let the market dictate her value, buy setting her us as 7 day auction on eBay.

Take really good photos showing the markings and all of her features, her height, hair color and use terms like shy and gown and if it is a rose on her dress, add that.

Start her at 19.99 and see if she goes up. Most NAO pieces sell between $20 and $50 for the smaller, single figure pieces (some of the doubles (like bride and groom or a couple) sell for slightly more.

If she is taller than 12 inches, then shipping her is going to be a huge issue with the USPS new DIM (dimensional mailing) protocols where box SIZE counts to BOX WEIGHT.

When you mail something so fragile, you need a box big enough that there is at least 3-5 inches all the way around the item and that is going to make the box big and the shipping outrageous.

In that case, you may want to find a consignment or vintage store and see if they can sell her for you for a small fee or buy her outright.

There are very few "rare" NAO figurines, and when there are they are large and very intricate, and usually with, as I mentioned before, a couple or two figures, a tree, or other decorations.

If you got $50 for yours, that would be lovely!!

Post back with an update.

As the history of this brand - NAO - shows; it was started more or less as a rogue company but after the dust settled Lladro continued to produce this brand as it was much less expensive than their Lladro figurines and more affordable to the average person.

I can remember when just the mention of the name "Lladro" was like saying "money' to the average person.

Lladro is no longer considered expensive in comparison (but of course there are many exceptions with Lladro - usually large pieces) and the NAO pieces are considered very low value.
All of this is sad news for people who inherited items their parents/grandparents thought would be a great value to leave to their off-spring.

You may be able to be able to find your girl if you search through the Replacements site.

You can also try contacting them. You will need a picture of the marking also.

There is some differences in comments on web sites but still interesting:
