German Hamburgers

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb. hamburger meat
  • 1 cup bread crumbs
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 3 Tbsp. ketchup
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. prepared mustard
  • 1/4 cup chopped onions*
  • 1 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce or soy sauce

Directions:

Knead all ingredients together and form in patties. Fry patties in a hot greased pan. Before frying, can dredge your patties in all purpose flour, if desired.

*can also use 1 tablespoon of dry, minced onion bits, in place of raw onions.

Thanks you for this recipe!...my mom was from Germany and she always did this...we didn't have a lot of money and I thought she was just trying to stretch the hamburger a little further...makes sense to me now!...I didn't have much interest in cooking until years after she passed away and I miss her cooking so much!...I'll have to give this a try!
