Optional:

  • 1/4 cup green onions, diced
  • 1/4 cup ripe olives, diced

Directions:

Chop onion. Brown pork sausage; season as desired. Chop mushrooms. Divide bread dough into 4 even parts. Stretch each piece into an 8 inch circle. Place 1/4 cup mozzarella cheese, 1/4 of the sausage, some mushrooms and onions and an additional 1/4 cup mozzarella cheese just off the center of each circle.

Moisten edges of dough with water, fold over and pinch edges to seal. Crimp edge with fork. Place on lightly greased cookie sheet. Brush tops with egg. Cut a few small slits for steam to escape. Bake in preheated 425 degree F oven for 15 minutes, or until calzone is puffed and golden brown.
