Removing Dye That Transferred in the Wash |
|
|
My son is pretty upset with me. Somehow when I washed his very nice yellow shirt something blue apparently bled onto it. Don't have any idea what happened. Nothing else in the load was affected. Somehow I didn't catch it and it got put in the dryer. Is there anything I can do to get the blue stains out or do I owe him a new shirt?

RE: Removing Dye That Transferred in the Wash
The color transfer or 'whited' out spots, or just spots might have something to do with the detergent. I've read on the internet about Gain softener or liquid detergent causing problems. You would think that for what they charge per bottle, they'd improve it.

Carbona and Rit both make Color Run Removers. Carbona and Shout also make dye grabbers and color catchers. Best luck!

Request: Removing Dye That Transferred in the Wash
My light pink blouse was washed with dark color clothes. Now it looks like it's a different colored pink. How do I remove the unwanted color?

Joann's craft store sells a product called "Rit Dye Powders - Color and Rust Removers" It works like a champ, and it's dirt cheap: less than $2.00 per package. (12/18/2007)
