Try to look for markings on an undressed doll. You might have better luck.

She looks like a Vogue Ginny Doll. If she is, there wills be a VERY LIGHT imprint of the words Vogue Doll on her back. You may have to get a very bright light to see it and it may have worn down if the doll was played with.

Some of these are quite valuable if that is who she is. Is she held together by elastic thread (meaning if you pull VERY gently on her legs or arms, do they pull away)? If so, she is probably from the 1950s. If not, she may be one of the later versions.

There were look alike dolls so don't be fooled. The real thing has the marking on the back. If she is unmarked, she may be a look alike. Not that she won't have value, but not as much as the real thing.

Post back what you learn!!

Let me make an update, I read this as she is composition (meaning a plastic) not porcelain. I am only familiar with the old Ginny dolls. The ones I know are composition bodies (like plastic, but not exactly).

If she is porcelain and not articulated, she may be a later version or a look alike.

How tall is she?

Please post back more information about what you learn. I would love to know more about her since I am on a kick with the Ginny's at the moment!!

It is almost impossible to identify a porcelain doll without more information.
There are thousands of similar dolls listed for sale on eBay (the worlds largest doll selling site) and other on-line sale sites everyday.

This just means that it would take someone with some particular knowledge about this doll to be able to identify her. You can try posting her picture on a doll forum site and someone on that site may recognize her. You should recheck her back and neck to make sure there are no marks or numbers as this is the most important aspect of identifying a doll.

If you wish to ask your question you will need the pictures you have as well as her size and also the composition of the body (all porcelain/part cloth??) and her size (inches tall). Also note anything you know about her history - how long have you had her? Where has she been before you acquired her? Anything may help...

I know this is a pretty old post, but I stumbled onto this while trying to identify a doll I have, and as it turns out, the faces of my doll and the one you posted are pretty much exactly the same, along with the hands, down to the placing of the blush and the position of the fingers. The foot shape and hairstyle match closely as well. For the record, I'm trying to figure out where my doll came from as well, but all I know is it was given to me second-hand, might have origins in Germany, and is likely older than the 1970s.

I have 2 dolls of this style, one with brown hair that looks like the one in the photos, and one with shorter, blonde hair.

There are no markings from any manufacturer on mine either. I was wondering, does the doll you posted have a porcelain head sewn onto a fabric body, and/or the hair attached to a sort of cap-thing that's glued onto the head? If so, it's likely the same type as mine and maybe we can figure out where they came from.
