Identifying a Porcelain Doll?

Identifying a Porcelain Doll - sleeping baby dollI recently found this beautiful doll at a Goodwill store, but there is no tag or markings other than the doll or possibly owner's name is "Lizetta". I'm thinking it's a 1980s Marian Yu doll, but I'm not 100% sure.

Most Marian Yu dolls are $20 or less. If no one here can identify it, you can upload the picture to the forum at www.dollreference.com.

She is cute!

How tall is she?

Did you check under her hair and on the small of her back and on her feet for markings? This sounds weird, but does she smell like a baby (like baby powder) or have a place in her back where someone could have put a powder wafer?

Is she musical?

She does not look like a Marian Yu doll. That brand had a different look to them...and this does not fit their typical look.

She has more the lines of the Artmark musical sleeping doll or Sugar Britches repro of an 1890's baby or a Homeco doll. Everyone was into dolls from the 1970s to the 2000s.

I say this if she is manufacturered.

The clothes don't look like any I am familiar with, which could mean one of three things--she was a manufactuered doll and I just don't remember the outfit.

OR

She was manufactuered and someone redressed her (which could devalue her sadly).

OR

She is a reborn doll...where someone took either a manufactured doll or a doll kit/doll parts and made a doll that looks very lifelike.

If you are not familiar with reborn infant dolls google it and there are tons of articles out there about it.

Reborn dolls are usually considered "one of a kind) or OOAK and some fetch a decent amount on the open market.

They usually come with toys, blankets, and other things and the makers put a baby powder wafer in them so they smell real...so if you found her at a Goodwill, those things could have been lost (including the scent).

If she is any of the other brands above, sadly, as cute as they are they fetch very little in the resale market. There are just too many of them.

Another thing that is possible is possible is she is a brand we did not see or sell much in the US...maybe a French doll and she is older and has some value--the older dolls usually did have markings, even if it was just an odd symbol somewhere on body. That makes me a little curious about her. How do you know her name is Lizetta?

If you have a good vintage/antique store in your town they may be able to tell you more and if she is a reborn, they can tell you if they have value in your town.
