Identifying a Porcelain Doll?

Identifying a Porcelain Doll - doll sitting on a shelf, wearing a black and gray sort of clown outfit with pointed hatI found her in a charity shop. She is glazed porcelain. There are no markings on her neck. The clothes appear to have Velcro (idk if that helps).

Take the clothes off to try to find any marks. If there aren't any, the doll probably is worth very little.

She is pretty. How tall is she?

Did you find any markings? Check her back of the neck, feet, and small of the back.

I can tell you GENERALLY...these are often called carnival dolls (the star on the face is why we called them that--I am not sure if that is the official term or what those who used to sell them in retail called them).

That it it has a loop closure on the clothes like you describe) lets me think it is a 80s or older doll...just because that is when the craze of doll makers really took off.

Most of the carnival dolls well for under $20, some under $10. But without more info like if there is a maker mark, it is hard to give you an exact value.

If you are going to sell her DO NOT use the term VELCRO in your ad or you will get a cease and desist message from their legal department! They are very fussy about things being advertised with their brand name if not in the original package and confirmed to be theirs!

Thanks for sharing. Will look for more info so maybe I an get more specific info for you!

Unusual doll.
I always thought 'carnival doll' was describing those little celluloid dolls and Kewpie doll from the carnivals and fairs but there were probably some porcelain dolls also.

The hand and face remind me of the Harlequin dolls but I've never seen clothes like this so not too sure.
Check some of these dolls for comparison.

You can send your pictures to a doll forum and they can probably tell you about her. You should have more pictures to get a good response.
