Identifying a Porcelain Doll?

Identifying a Porcelain Doll - doll in pink dress with a lace capI bought this doll at a thrift store and I've been trying to research her value. The signature on her back is etched in the porcelain. It looks like it says SFBJ 247 Paris?

She is really pretty! I hope she is real as SFBJ usually stands for Société Française de Fabrication de Bébés et Jouets and these are quite valuable French dolls.

I strongly recommend taking her to a reputable antique dealer in your town (preferable one who specializes in dolls) and have her looked at.

I know more about German dolls than French so I am not an expert, but I do know in all dolls there are reproduction dolls of the old and valuable ones, which are worth less than the original. Also condition and original clothing and shoes etc. also contribute to final value at an auction (a real auction--although you could do it on eBay, if you are a new seller I strongly DO NOT recommend selling in that venue).

Why valuing dolls today is so challenging is that the old days dolls were loved and played with an if they broke, the dad or a mom often remade parts so if anything was replaced. It takes a true doll expert to be able to tell you if everything is original and also to judge condition.

The good news is if she is real she could be quite valuable and even just the head could fetch decent money at auction if she is in good shape!!
