I have white cupboards with navy counter top. What colour should I paint the walls?

With the dark counter tops, a light, bright color might be best. Try a sunny yellow, or pick up a color from the floor, but make it a light, bright version.
Navy and tan work well together. They are two of the three Americana colors. Check out some of the finds from google.

I would think a shade of gray, perhaps, gun metal gray. Go to Sherwin Williams or home depot website and use the module to compare colors with your kitchen colors.
A pale yellow would go well with navy and brighten up your kitchen. Bright white to match the cabinets would also brighten everything up and keep your kitchen from looking too busy.
