Is my dog all deer head Chihuahua? Is she part Corgi?
I wanted to know if there is a possibility of my dog being a pure bred Chihuahua. Is it possible? I'm curious.
My vote is yes, Chihuahua!
I got this pup from a friend who says she's a purebred applehead Chi. This is her at 5 & 6 weeks. Can anyone who is familiar with this breed please give opinions? Although I know an actual DNA test is the only way of really knowing, I'd just thought I'd ask for opinions!
Thanks!! (When I got her she had a hot spotfrom flea bites. But my baby is now flea free and sore free!)
She does look applehead to me.
Everyone thinks my Chihuahua is a Jack Russell how can I tell? The first photo was taken at 10 weeks. He is now 16 weeks and a little over 5 lbs.
There is no eye patch pigmentation that you would see on a Jack Russell. I think the dog is purebred Chihuahua.
I bought my Chi from a breeder. I met the dogs mam who is a long haired Chi, but I haven't met the stud which I was told is a smooth coat. He has no papers. I was just wondering if he is a full Chihuahua.
Thanks in advance :)
He looks full-blooded to me
My puppy, Reeses, is adorable. I've been told that he is a long hair Chihuahua, but some people have doubts. I wanted to see what others think.
I think Reeses may have some chihuahua in his bloodline but I also think he's mixed with some type of terrier. One thing is certain, he is adorable.
I love Reeses name and sweet puppy face!!!
Definitely a mix based on my love of fur kids...not an expert!
The tail and long body look like a long hair dachshund (which may mean he is a chi-wienie).
There could be a little terrier mixed in with the longer legs and high haunches or that could be from the hound.
Your vet can give you a good estimate by looking the teeth, jaw, hips etc.
He is very sweet and I just want to hug him! Wishing you a wonderful life together!!!
I think he is full blooded. You can do a dna test to be sure
looks like a long haired chihuahua terrier :)
Well - we all agree that Reeses is adorable!
I have had 2 long haired Chihuahuas and something that I noticed is that almost all long haired Chihuahuas carry their tail curled over their body. You can check this out with photos on Google.
The second difference that I noticed is that Reeses ears seem more rounded, as, from my experience, a pure bred has more pointed ears and their ears are further apart on their head.
You can check some of this out with photos on Google.

Does it really matter? Probably not as its for sure you like just as he is.
The most important thing that you can do right now is to be sure Resses has all of his first year shots/vaccinations as they could make a big difference in his health in the future. Please do not neglect to do this (hopefully you have already had him for his first round of shots). Here is a link that explains how important taking a pup to a vet can be.
If you ever become really interested in knowing his true breed than you can always purchase a DNA kit as these are very reasonably priced right now. Most all pet stores sell them as well farm stores and always online.
I got my dog about 6 weeks ago and was kinda of curious if my sweet angel was a pure breed. The only reason I ask is because many people stop and wonder.
Getting a DNA test in a few weeks!I bought my 12 week old boy Marley two weeks ago from a gypsy family from a gumtree. He was the last one out of the litter. I met his mother, who is a long haired chihuahua.
However, he keeps getting mistaken for a Jack Russell pup. Does anyone know if he is a cross or a pure chihuahua?I was told my Chihuahua was full bred, but I'm not sure cuz she's a bigger breed! I've googled so many times to see if she is mixed!
I want to breed her with another Chihuahua before I get her fixed, but I want opinions if she's full bred or not first!Kuban was given to me with all of his papers. I do sometimes question whether or not he is a pure bred because I've never seen a Chihuahua like him, but he is certified so why can't I find another Chihuahua that looks the same? I would like to mate him eventually. Is there anyone that knows more about the breed?
He's about 2 months and weighs around 3 lbs.
He looks like a mix with Jack Russell terrier.
What breed does my baby Reeses look like? The person that gave him to me said he is a long haired Chihuahua. I have posted this question before.
Do people think that my Reeses is a pure bred Chihuahua? Reeses is now 7 months old and his hair is growing out.He does look purebred. A DNA test will tell you the bloodline.
I loved him the first time you posted and still do!! I still think there is some dachshund in him with that snout.
Scroll halfway down and see what I mean:
What does your vet think? I love them all...and the more breeds mixed up into those sweet bodies the better because sometimes that weeds out all the bad things that breeds are specific for getting.
Enjoy your pup!!
Ooo!!!!!!!!! looks like border collie chihuahua mix! how CUTE
Does she look full blooded and if so what type does she look like?
I got my two Chihuahua puppies from a colleague from high school. She was giving them away. At first I got the boy, then a week later I got the girl. I got the pair because they were both brown and I've never seen an all brown Chihuahua before.
When I got them they were a little over 2 months old and they looked like Chihuahuas especially the girl. Now they are 6 months old and the boy, Leo is at least double Bella's size, but doesn't really resemble a pure bred Chihuahua while Bella does. My colleague said their parents were an apple head and a Chihuahua mix.
I have no problem whether Leo is a mix, but my mom refers to him as a "human" because it looks like he has the face of a person. So does anyone know if they are pure or not? We have only had female dogs before this is our first time raising a male dog.
Is my dog a purebred Chihuahua? She's supposed to be a deer head Chi, but I think she looks like a Jack Russell. She was my nana's dog and apparently she got papers when she bought her, but can't find them.
I'm thinking maybe someone has given her papers that aren't legitimateI say she does look very chihuahua-ish to me, what with the large ears and pointed snout and bulging eyes. If she has papers it's probbly good to rely on it.
I was wondering if y'all can tell if my baby girl here is full blooded?
Thank y'all very much.
Cute. Looks like a pure short hair Chihuahua
I want to know if she's really a Chihuahua? She is 12 weeks old and her ears don't stand up.
Only a DNA test will tell. But it looks like she might have some beagle in her--they ears especially.
The only way to find out the breed of your dog is through a blood test or DNA test. Your vet can perform the test or you can purchase the test online. Embark is an excellent DNA test that you can buy online. If you are interested in reading about different DNA test reviews you can find the information here:
