Identifying a Porcelain Doll?

Identifying a Porcelain Doll - doll in gingham dress lying on tummy and propped up on elbowsI bought her at a flea market for $7. I can't find any markings, nothing is written on her. I don't think these are her original clothes, since they don't fit her perfectly. She is about 12 inches/30 cm.

She is very cute! Most of the name brand dolls (like Ashley Belle) made these tummy dolls in the 1980s and 1990s. The brand name dolls (almost all) were marked on the back of the neck, the small of the back, or the feet.

That yours is unmarked and the close are ill-fitting most likely means she is a kit or class doll that a mom, granny, aunty or friend made in a class. These classes were all the rage in this time period.

Most of those dolls are unmarked OR if they are marked, they are hand signed in pen or marker by the artist.

At 7.00 you got a good bargain, as that is about what they sell for online. Sadly most of them online are unsold because there is such a glut and they are very difficult to safely and inexpensively ship.

She should clean up with a very lightly damp rag and a few drops of Simple Dawn dish detergent. Do not let her sit in water. Use a clean white cotton rag so as not to scratch and be sure to dry it off well.

Enjoy her!!!

Thank you very much for these tips!

I'll definitely try to keep her in the best state possible and I'm kind of glad that she isn't worth much, so I don't gotta worry about selling her! I loved her since i bought her and it would be tough to decide if i should keep or sell her, because she is just too cute!

Thank you!

Dolls with no markings are generally mass-produced and have very little value.

That's what I would've guessed, was just kind of curious!

Thank you very much for your answer!

Your doll is very cute but if there are no marking on the neck, back, or bottom of the feet the doll is mostly likely mass produced. if the clothes are not fitting the doll exactally, it appears that the previous owner of the doll made new clothes for the doll so it matched their decoration.

I would not worry so much about this and if you love the doll, just enjoy her.
