Making Fried Green Tomatoes

breaded  Fried Green TomatoesI have a tomato vine that is full of large green tomatoes. It is so heavy with tomatoes, the wind blew the vine and the post over. On the good side, the vine is still living and we are enjoying fried green tomatoes.

I heard about the movie when I was a kid, and I keep hearing about them in general, but I've never been so lucky! I'm going to have to make them and finally understand what it's all about. Better late than never, right? :)

Ive been making fried green tomatoes a long time and here are some suggestions for the best success. I pick tomatoes that do not have any pink at the blossom end. If theres any pink, choose a different one, because its started ripening and wont have the same taste if theres any pink on them. I always peel my green tomatoes and pat them dry before I dredge them.


I also add some cornstarch (1/4cup) to the dry dredge. This makes sure that the coating doesnt fall off the tomato slices. The batter wont stick to the tomato skins so it just falls off. I hope these suggestions give you the best outcome!!
