When I was a little girl the lady that lived with us, to watch over my brother and I, used to make this for us for breakfast and it was so yummy! Once in your bowl, you can add a little bit of milk if you want. We liked this so much more than cold cereal or oatmeal and the raisins give it a natural sweet flavor!

Place all ingredients in a greased crockpot. Stir then cover. Cook in crockpot until rice is soft. I usually cook on high for 1 hour then low for about another 2 hours. Usually after trying this, everyone wants the recipe. We love it. I make it for special dinners. So tasty and easy to make.

You will be surprised at what is in it and the fact that it will not use your food budget up for the week. When we made it for our kids, they loved it. So here goes. In a saucepan with tight-fitting lid, bring water to a boil; add rice. Cover and reduce heat to simmer; cook for 15 minutes without removing lid. Remove from heat and let stand, covered for 3 to 5 minutes or until rice is tender.
Pound fillets to 1/2 inch thickness. Combine garlic powder, thyme, salt, cumin and cayenne pepper. Sprinkle half of spice mixture over one side of fillets; rub into surface. Repeat on reverse side of fillets with remaining spice mixture.
Saute' onion in butter in skillet until tender. Add rice, cooking until golden. Stir in next 4 ingredients and 2 cups water. Simmer, covered, for 15 minutes.
