Finding Free Furniture?

I have lost everything we own. We lost all of our furniture, our clothes, our vehicle, and our jobs. We are starting all over with nothing. I've tried everywhere I can think of. The Salvation Army said they only help when someone loses their stuff from like a fire. The Ministerial Alliance said they will give me a voucher, but I don't know anyone with a truck. I honestly am lost. I only have 2 lawn chairs to sit on and sleep in. This is the hardest we have fallen. We are looking for work close to home so we can walk. If anyone knows of a place that can help me please let me know.

You don't mention what city you are located. Every city, just about, has a large church or synagogue or mosque that offers services that can help you get back on your feet.

No need to share the details but some things to think about to help you get assistance:

If you have a disability, almost every disability related illness has a website devoted to assisting people with the condition...like there is an MS Society, Epilepsy Foundation, etc. If there is a situation like this that applies to you, contact the group or your local United Way and see if you can get help.

If you have children, talk to the principal at the school and see if he/she knows resources in your area.

If you or someone in your family have issues with depression or anxiety, there is the National Alliance of Mental Illness (NAMI) that you can try.

You may or may not have something like these issues going on, but in case you did, just wanted you to know there are resources out there.

Lastly, if you are brave enough to tell your story and ask for help through a Go Fund Me account, you may be able to get some financial assistance that way.

Friends and family and neighbors and strangers can be generous if they see a need and know that the help is going directly to the person.

Prayer for you to find solutions (because it is probably going to take several) to help you get back on your feet!

I am very sorry this happend to you

without more context it is hard to know what happened or what can be done

it sounds like you actually do have a place to live, but just no furniture? Clearly you did not lose everything in a fire?

in any event the other suggestions are all good. Specific charities in your area can provide assistance. Posting a WANTED ad on facebook groups or craigslist are good - you can even on Craigslist search for CURB ALERT ads in the FREE/BARTER section and then organise to get a truck to fetch things for you.

I'm so very sorry :( Placed like NextDoor.com and Craigslist have awesome "free stuff" areas after you put in your location. You usually just have to be courteous to pick them up. Sending you well wishes.
