Laminate Floor Streaking
When I read the many comments on laminate flooring streaking, leaving a bigger visual mess a few days after mopping etc., I was a bit relieved and a bit ticked off. We just bought a home with laminate flooring and I'm having the very same problems. Don't be so "perfectionistic", my husband states. But to me, having streaks and smudges on the floor is the same as a fingerprinted window, it's just not okay at all.

Alternatives To Manufacturer's Hardwood Floor Cleaner
Does anyone have a really good way to clean pre-finished hardwood floors other than purchasing the expensive manufacturer's brand of cleaner? It costs me a fortune to use their cleaner and I know someone must have the solution.

Use Baby Wipes On Floor Spills
Use baby wipes to clean up spills on the floor. My back is bad, so I sit here at my desk and scoot around on my office chair (on wheels) pushing a baby wipe with my foot! It's a whole lot easier and the cost is minimal. Excuse me, I must get back to that spot in the corner:)

Cleaning Orange Glo Residue From Floors
We were also victims of the Orange Glo Hardwood floor fiasco! Our cleaning service used it on our foyer when our usual solution ran out. The waxy/oily/sticky smudge grew through the whole first floor. To give you an idea, 2200+ prefinished Bellawood Brazilian Cherry all covered with this stuff tracked by footsteps and attempts to remove it.

Recommendations For Mopping Products
What do you think is the best mop or cleaning product for mopping floors? I find nothing I use is doing well enough. Does anyone know how well the steam mops work?

Use Shoe Polish to Hide Scratches on Laminate Flooring
My laminate flooring had some nicks and scratches that have accumulated over the years. The other night, I took some regular brown shoe polish and rubbed it in the scratches and buffed it off. I did several layers and continued to buff, and it was like magic! It worked very well and the scratches were almost entirely invisible It sure was an inexpensive remedy!
